According to a Mashabletranslation, the email reads: "My colleagues and I will wait for you at 1:00 p.m. behind Janson to help you ... There's a lot of you, so be on time."
The message then goes on to advise, "From an aesthetic point of view, it's preferable that the young women wear dresses or skirts with a low neckline, and that men wear suits," but clarifies that for women, this isn't obligatory.
The following day, the school's official Facebook account commented on the post, explaining that the Dean of Medicine took note of the message and acknowledged it contradicted ULB's values. He reportedly sent an email apologizing on behalf of the faculty and to all students who received the instructions. The university also posted an additional apology to all its Facebook followers. It's unclear from the apology the origins of the instructions.
Despite the apology, over 700 comments on the two posts showed students were very displeased with the email. Several users accused the university of sexism and questioned why on Earth students should be required to show their chest to graduate.
Mashable reached out to the university for additional comment.
