The Martial arts Archiveslatest in-game event for The Pokémon Company's hit mobile game connects to the Water Festival. If you're on the hunt for more Water-type Pokémon, you'll want to fire up the game starting on March 22 at 4 p.m. ET.
SEE ALSO: A look at the mundane jobs that would suck in the Pokemon worldMagikarp, Squirtle and Totodile (plus their evolved forms) will all appear with greater frequency until the event ends on March 29 at 4 p.m. ET. In addition, allWater-type Pokémon that were added to the game back in February will appear more frequently wherever Water-type Pokémon are normally likely to pop up.
Best of all: there's a new hat. Starting on March 22, all players can make their Trainer avatar more stylish with a Magikarp Hat.
There isn't an official look at the hat to share yet, but here is an artist's rendering of what a hat adorned with a seemingly dead Pokémon fish looks like:
The Water Festival -- as it is commonly known in the U.S. -- is a New Year's event celebrated in a number of Southeast Asian countries. Its name comes from the ritual of splashing or pouring water on one another, which is meant as an act of cleansing to welcome the new year.
