If up until now you've mainly been using AR for Snapchat and Watch Girl Scout Nookies 15 OnlinePokémon-catching, you're probably not alone.
But there has to be a more practical use for the technology too, right?
Well, the answer may lie at the grocery store.

This Tweet is currently unavailable. It might be loading or has been removed.
"Based on spacial tracking and computer vision, [the tool] can surface specific product information when you want it, integrate with your shopping list, and help you shop with your dietary requirements in mind," Hart told Mashable. "Or perhaps there's a recipe you want to follow, so it would guide you around the store to pick out all the ingredients."
"I really believe in the potential for mobile AR"
So how does it actually work?
"It uses computer vision technology to localise the user within the store and from there it uses integrated store layouts and up-to-date stock information to show product details and other relevant data to guide a customer around any store," said Hart. "We’re building a simple-to-use web app that will make this process of integration for any retailer, into their own app, as effortless as possible."
Hart said Dent Reality is currently working with a number of retailers to implement the technology, but couldn't share further details. He also said they're planning to integrate the tool into a greater variety of spaces -- everything from shopping malls and museums to airports and hospitals.
"I really believe in the potential for mobile AR, especially in regards to location-based experiences, where it’s aware of the environment around you and can provide additional context," he said.
"So my favourite responses have been from people who say, 'I finally get it, this is what AR is for!'"
