Wendy's (yes, the fast-food chain Wendy's) has gained itself a bit of a reputation online for being cheeky and sassy on the social media platform Twitter. Frequently you'll see a witty response from the Wendy's account retweeted into your timeline with exaltations along the lines of "Fam!" Or maybe a "Yooooooooo." Or maybe just fire emoji.

Anyway, you know how "the Warriors blew a 3-1 lead" meme overtook the internet when Golden State did just that in last year's NBA Finals? Wendy's the brand hopped aboard that train Tuesday when someone tweeted them a story about Warriors star Steph Curry eating at a Wendy's franchise.

This unprovoked attacked ticked off some Warriors fans.

Now, the Warriors play in Oakland. Oakland's Major League Baseball team, the Athletics, is also known for its cheeky Twitter presence. So, naturally, another Oakland fan wondered who'd win a Twitter battle between the A's and Wendy's. (This is 2017, and wondering such things has actually become considered normal human behavior.)

To which the A's gamely replied:

Now, as pointed out by ForTheWin, this is actually kind of a compliment! To "eat someone's lunch" is obviously a threat of sorts -- but given that Wendy's is a fast-food chain, the tweet by the A's account takes on a mildly cute double meaning.

But Wendy's, apparently, was having none of that. Here's what came next:

Whoa! Harsh realm, bro!

If you're not following along, Wendy's just upped the ante by making fun of the A's struggles this season. (Oakland's record is just 26-33.)

But sometimes it's possible for a person -- or a brand's social media manager, as the case may be -- to pick the wrong fight.

Here's the A's reply, which manages to both poke fun at their own struggles on the diamond while also effectively ending this little Twitter sparring match.
