In the HBO show's second season, Streep plays Mary Louise Wright, mother-in-law of Celeste Wright (Kidman).
The second season of the HBO show will begin with Streep's character showing up in Monterey, California, worried about her grandchildren's wellbeing after her son's death in Season 1.
