The Crime Archiveslatest season of Westworldwas about as straightforward as a Kardashian pregnancy rumor. Luckily, fans weren't the only ones feeling baffled and left in the dark.
SEE ALSO: 'Westworld' Season 2 went full 'Westworld'. Never go full 'Westworld'.In a recent interview with Vulture, star Evan Rachel Wood admitted that she had "no idea what was happening" during the filming of Season 2.
Wood commented that she didn't know how she felt about the "insane" acting experience, but added, "It was a ride. We stopped reading call sheets... We just lived in the moment in whatever scene that we were doing, and that's how we made it."
Wood's comments were in response to a similar statement by Ed Harris. When asked by Vulture what challenged him the most as a Westworldcast member, Harris said, "In terms of where it's going, I guess the difficult thing is gauging that and trying to understand it."
Yikes. Assuming Wood and Harris are paying attention and not logging hours on Fortnite, keeping your actors so totally unaware that they don't even know the plot seems like a pretty haphazard way for HBO to make such a complex series.
More importantly, this decoupage approach to filming may explain why Season 2 was such a mess. The addition of more parks felt a bit more like a Disney Resorts money grab than a necessary plot addition and the constantly changing identities of characters made every episode feel like a trippy game of "Guess Who."
Let's hope HBO can turn this artificially intelligent horse around when Season 3 returns in 2020. But, you know, these violent delights have violent ends... or something.
