"Rent as many DVDs as you want for 20 bucks a month," the antique flier reads.
Although the service seems like it's a pretty recent innovation, Netflix has actually been around since 1997. It expanded into streaming movies and TV shows ten years later in 2007.
These flyers from the '90s introduced a lot of early Netflix subscribers to the service -- one Redditor said that the coupon for a free trial was tucked into the box when they first bought a DVD player.
And when the company first started out, it would send bags of popcorn along with rented DVDs. "Unfortunately that was short lived," u/meliman22 said.
On the bright side, Netflix's prices have gone down! The cheapest subscription is just $7.99 a month -- a sharp drop from its original $20 monthly fee.
