Samsung announced a new partnership with ADT today that will make automated smart homes even more secure. The Watch Taboo Sex Daughtercompanies are launching a new self-installed security product powered by Samsung's SmartThings platform and ADT's professional monitoring services.
The new Home Security Starter Kit ($549) from both companies comes with a security hub, two door and window detectors, and small motion detector. The security hub, which comes with a 7-inch touchscreen display, can also be used to control other SmartThings devices. But that's not all.
The package also comes with optional ADT security monitoring services. The result is a combination of modern smart home security systems that are installed by customers and the service-focused protection from a professional security company like ADT.
Homeowners will be able to choose a level of optional professional monitoring when they buy the new Home Security Starter Kit. What's special about this bundle is that customers are not required to sign any contracts, and customers will be able to activate or cancel service at any time. Monthly plans start at $15 for life safety and $25 for security services.

Monthly payments are typically between $37 and $53 per month depending on the package you sign up for.
If you want even more coverage from your SmartThings starter kit, you can try a separate expansion pack with more sensors and alarms. The Home Safety Expansion Pack ($200) comes with a smoke alarm, carbon monoxide detector, and water leak detector.
It's a steep price to pay for alarms you should already have in your house — but the smart features could be enticing enough to convince homeowners building up their connected homes. The systems are available for pre-order online today before reaching Best Buy stores on Oct. 29.
