LONDON -- The Chinaart of diplomacy oftentimes involves politely partaking in the customs of another country's culture, regardless of how unusual or unfamiliar those traditions might be.
It's a skill that requires finesse, tact, and sometimes bravery, but we're guessing that even the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge weren't expecting to encounter such a demanding exercise in all three traits during their visit to the commonwealth nation of Canada.
But then the Canadians busted out a penis-shaped clam. And you definitely need finesse, tact, and bravery to get that puppy down the hatch.
Behold, the geoduck -- an oversized mollusk native to the western coastline of North America and a Canadian delicacy. And also very, very phallic:

The royal couple was offered the edible saltwater clam at a food and wine festival in British Columbia during a royal tour of Canada. The creature has a lifespan of around 140 years, and its "neck" can extend to almost 1 meters (3.3 ft) in length.
In a Telegraph article, Prince William is quoted as saying about the clams, “Presentationally they are quite challenging,” while the Duchess called them "really unusual."
Ladies and gentlemen, diplomacy at its absolute finest.
