If this "job ad" to become a government porn censor looks too good to be sex lovely videotrue -- that's because it is.
The New Government Jobs website is in fact a spoof created by the Open Rights Group to raise awareness about the incoming UK's Digital Economy Bill, which will force any website that benefits commercially from porn to verify the age of users.
SEE ALSO: This musical remix of the UK news in 2016 is hilariously brutalIf they fail to do the monitoring and checks, payment providers and third parties will be legally required to intervene. Should the websites refuse to comply, the ISPs will block content, even though it's legal.
The body in charge of classifying and censor porning websites will be the BBFC, which already does a similar job for films.
However, activists are saying that watching all the porn on the internet in order to classify it is a herculean task.
That's why Open Rights Group came up with the idea of a parody video in which a fake government official recruits millions of "fast-fingered job applicants to help the government."
People can send the fake applications to the New Government Jobs website, which features hilarious subsections such as "Interview tips" or "First Day" for the wannabe internet censor.
Activists warned that with the bill citizens' privacy is at risk and free speech could be restricted:
"We are strongly against the government's Digital Economy Bill," Open Rights Group executive director Jim Killock says in a video. "It threatens people's privacy, it's unworkable and gives the government a sweeping power to censor legal adult content."
"The government’s proposals could leave millions of UK citizens vulnerable to Ashley Madison style hacks," Killock said.
"To make their plans work, they would need to classify and block thousands and thousands of legal websites. This is the online equivalent of painting the Forth Road Bridge and while these proposals might create jobs for the BBFC, they are unlikely to stop tech savvy teens from viewing pornography."
