The MDubbedQuarter Pounder would like women to know he cares.
To celebrate International Women's Day, McDonalds decided to offer paid maternity leaveflip their brand logo upside down, turning the infamous "M" into a "W." The "W" stands for women.
It's what Susan B. Anthony always dreamed of
The "M" "W" connection has long been a source of confusion for many in the Scrabble/Bananagrams community. But this action has many accusing the brand of performing yet another empty PR stunt.
“If McDonald’s wants to empower women, it should start by protecting the women who cook and sell the company’s food every day while facing sexual harassment and discrimination on the job," Alexis Harris, a McDonalds worker from Riverview Florida said in a public statement. "That’s why we’re fighting not just for $15 an hour, but for the right to a union so women can demand real protections and respect from McDonald’s – not just a cheap PR stunt."
Twitter agreed.

I always enjoy #InternationalWomensDay the one day of the year when we have a female President, workplaces without harassment and universal paid maternity leave.

Oh, we don’t get any of that? Well, thanks for turning the arches upside down, McDonalds.
Hey @McDonalds, instead of empty gestures like flipping your arches, how about improving working conditions for your women workers?#IWD2018 #McStrike pic.twitter.com/BvGGgu1IPI

If we can't have a female president, we might as well have a temporary, vaguely female-inspired, inspirational fast food logo.
