Alec Baldwin's Donald Trump was conspicuously absent from this week's Saturday Night Live,Love Nonetheless with the show's cold open instead focusing on Kate McKinnon's Hillary Clinton, who performed a poignant rendition of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah."
The show left the political jabs to host Dave Chappelle, who opened his monologue by noting, "I didn't know that Donald Trump was gonna win the election -- I didsuspect it. It seemed like Hillary was doing well in the polls, and yet...
"I know the whites. You guys aren't as full of surprises as you used to be."
He continued, "America's done it, we've actually elected an internet troll as our president. The whites are furious…I haven't seen white people this mad since the O.J. verdict."

"I feel bad saying it, I'm staying in a Trump hotel right now. I don’t know if he's gonna make a good president, but he makes a swell hotel suite," Chappelle noted. "Housekeeping comes in in the morning, cleans my room, I say 'hey, good morning, housekeeping,' grab a big handful of pussy ... Say, 'boss said it was okay.'"
Chappelle also tackled this year's rash of mass shootings, including the Pulse nightclub attack, as well as the death of Harambe the gorilla, the Black Lives Matter movement and the difficulties he's encountered since becoming wealthy.
"All my black friends who have money said the same thing when Trump got elected: 'that's it, bro, I'm out, I'm leaving the country. You coming with us?' Nah, I'm good, I'm gonna stay here and get this tax break, see how it works out."
SEE ALSO: Stephen Colbert doesn't pull punches with President-elect TrumpDespite a few pointed remarks directed at both Trump and the reaction to the election results, Chappelle ended by recounting a story about a recent party he attended at the White House. He explained how powerful it was to see that "everyone in there was black, apart from Bradley Cooper for some reason."
"I saw how happy everybody was, these people who had been historically disenfranchised, and it made me feel hopeful, and it made me feel proud to be an American, and it made me very happy about the prospects of our country," he said.
"So, in that spirit, I’m wishing Donald Trump luck. I’m going to give him a chance, and we, the historically disenfranchised, demand that he give us one too."
SEE ALSO: 'SNL' just gave us the 'Walking Dead'-'Chappelle's Show' crossover of our dreamsPerhaps the most incisive political commentary of the night came via the very next sketch, "Election Night," which took place at viewing party of Clinton supporters whose signs might as well have read "white privilege" instead of "Hillary 2016."
The skit featured Chappelle and Chris Rock wryly watching their woke white friends melt down as the election results came in, bringing them to the "shocking" realization that America is actually kind of racist.
Tough love, but necessary.
