Apple is Passion's Peak (2002)bringing some of its most popular creative software packages to the iPad.
On Tuesday, the company launched its video editing app, Final Cut Pro, and its music creation app, Logic Pro, for the iPad.
The interface on both apps has been overhauled to be more touch-friendly and better suit the iPad. For example, the Final Cut Pro has a new jog wheel that helps with editing; the Live Drawing feature allows users to draw directly on top of their video with an Apple Pencil, and multi-touch gestures are supported as well.
Another cool new feature that's specific to the iPad is the Pro Camera Mode, allowing creators to capture video with their iPad, edit it on the go, and publish it right away, all from a single device.
The Logic Pro for iPad also supports multi touch gestures and Apple Pencil, and it makes use of iPad Pro's five mics to capture audio which can then be edited on the go.
New features include the new sound browser that shows instrument patches, audio patches, samples, loops, and plug-in presets in a single location. The Pro Mixer feature makes use of iPad's multi-touch gestures to allow users to move multiple faders at once, and a new feature called Beat Breaker makes use of swipe and pinch gestures, letting creators reshape and shuffle sounds.
You don't have to be completely keyboard-less though; both apps will play nice with Magic Keyboard or Smart Keyboard Folio for iPad if you have it.
The availability of these apps for the iPad is yet another move by Apple that aims to bring the most powerful iPad models up to par with the company's laptops.
SEE ALSO: The Apple Watch SE is within a dollar of its lowest price ever, plus other Apple Watch deals this weekBoth apps will be available on Apple's App Store on Tuesday, May 23. Pricing for each app is $4.99 per month or $49 per year with a one-month free trial.
Compatibility for these apps isn't quite the same, though. Final Cut Pro requires iPad models with an M1 chip (or later), while Logic Pro is available for iPads with an A12 Bionic chip (or later). Both apps require iPadOS 16.4.
