Netflix is Yoo Jungtesting out a "random" viewing option, giving viewers the opportunity to jump into a random episode of certain "popular" TV shows in an effort to give you a spicier viewing experience.
First reported by the site Android Police and later confirmed by Netflix to Mashable, the option lets you jump into into a random episode of popular shows on the streaming service, like hitting shuffle on The Officeor Arrested Development.
According to the site, the above option for getting a random episode appeared on an Android user's app, "specifically v7.6.0 build 19 34157."
The option makes a lot of sense if you just want to jump into a show you've seen plenty of times, like The Officeor Friends, and mindlessly binge for a few hours. It probably makes a little less sense, though, for continuity-based shows like Twin Peaksor Bodyguard.
A spokesperson for Netflix told Mashable, "We are testing the ability for members to play a random episode from different TV series on the Android mobile app. These tests typically vary in length of time and by region, and may not become permanent."
No further information, including if the random option will only apply to certain shows, was available. So if you've got an Android device, see if you have it and give it a whirl and see how you enjoy that Netflix Shuffle.
